As a Member, you will receive regular updates outlining our activities, giving you the opportunity to participate in consultations and campaigns. We'll invite you to our Awards Evening and AGM, and other events. Members are always encouraged to take an active part in the work done by the committee – come along and see if you can help.
The membership year runs from 1st Jan, and only costs £6 for individuals, £8 for couples or families, and £15 for organisations. Additional voluntary donations always welcome.
The Local Plan is the plan produced by LBHF for the borough, setting its development policies. It sits under the London Plan, and above any neighbourhood plans, and may have Supplementary Planning Documents, such as the Climate Change SPD, that can provide guidance, but not alter the policies of the Local Plan. The current LBHF local plan is dated 2018.
The Council’s Disability Forum Planning Group (DFPG) provides advice to Hammersmith & Fulham Council on making sure that planning applications create new buildings that are accessible and inclusive, and that work for everyone. The group will use the Social Model of Disability and a human rights way of working in all its work.
The group is looking to recruit new members from the local disabled community with interests in planning. The council will provide training and access to relevant expertise.

To conclude a very heavy year on major consultations (Local Plans for both LBHF and OPDC) we have one more major one which is the Mayor London’s latest draft for the London Plan. It weighs in at a whopping 530 pages, which is 100 pages more than the existing plan last updated just over a year ago – and probably several times heavier that the first Mayoral London Plan produced in 2004 by Ken Livingstone.
There have been no new major site applications. The updated Local Plan originally planned for the Spring will not now be ready until the Summer – and this is thought to be due to the difficulties of reconciling the proposals with the realisation that the huge area of land required for the Crossrail Elizabeth line sidings cannot be built over economically and therefore will radically reduce the area of land available for development.Continued →
We have reported previously on the progress of the Local Plan which is now with the Inspector to make his final report.
In the meantime, the Council have issued their draft Planning Guidance Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) which covers much of the nitty gritty detail. Much of this is currently contained in the Development Management Local Plan document, which sits beside the Core Strategy. Once approved the new documents will replace both of these. The new document has been expanded to include some matters which are currently in the Core Strategy or the subject of existing SPDs.
Your Committee will be submitting a response to these proposals by the deadline of Friday 15th December.

Despite objections from us, the Council and most other consultees, the OPDC Committee have continued to approve schemes in Scrubs Lane, the latest being Mitre Bridge which is the site immediately on the left after the canal bridge going north. This involves a 19 storey tower and many of the units are being promoted on the basis of ‘build for rent’. Another scheme with another tall tower is being launched next week for the Nursery Site at the top end of Scrubs Lane. No-one knows at this stage what effect the Grenfell fire will have on the construction of these towers which all involve single escape staircases.
We continue to challenge the very high densities proposed in the OPDC area which result in these tall towers. We hope that the latest lowered growth predictions by the GLA for London may enable some reductions.
Again, we have previously reported on the development of the Local Plan for the Old Oak and Park Royal Development area.
This has to follow the same standard national procedure and consultation timetable as the H and F Local Plan. We commented on the initial plan in some detail and OPDC are due to publish their next stage Plan, which should incorporate and respond to comments made.
Members of your committee will be examining and commenting on the revisions.
We have reported on the progress on the new Hammersmith and Fulham Local Plan over the last two years.
The revised Plan incorporating several of our comments and recommendations will now be the subject of this Inquiry by a Government appointed inspector. He will be assessing the soundness of the plan and conformity to planning law including the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and the London Plan. The hearings will take place in the Council Chamber of Hammersmith Town Hall over a period of six days, commencing on Tuesday 13th June.
